June was a fun month. :)
We babysat this little cutie one day. He's the baby of a couple friends and he's the sweetest, most mellow little boy. Kollyn was having a lot of fun handing him toys (since he wasn't really mobile then) and trying to read books to him and play with him. The only time she got mad about me holding him was when she was tired and ready for her nap. Makes me feel a little bit better when the time comes for her to be a big sister. :)
This girl LOVES to go to the pool and swim. I have so many videos of her, but sadly they're all too big for the blog. She asks to go to the pool every single day. We usually wait until David is home because she loves playing with Daddy and jumping off the step or the side, swimming on her floaty dolphin or frog (she's got the kicking down and holds her breath when she puts her head under), and has loved spending time in our "hot tub" which is really just like a warm bath since they don't heat it up that much.
Also had to share this. She fell in love with her life jacket that we found (who knew it was so hard to find life jackets for kids under 30 pounds!?) and she insisted on wearing it around the house for like three days after we bought it. She's crazy but we love her still and all her little antics.
We bought this chair for her because she loves playing with Luke's big chair when we go over there. She had to sit on it in the cart the whole time we were in the store when we bought it. She likes to sit on it and watch her animal shows while I'm making breakfast in the morning, and will carry it around the house so she can sit in it everywhere. This girl loves her chair. :)
Kollyn LOVES playing with Luke. I think it's so fun watching them play together since they seem to enjoy the same types of things so they're able to play well. And he has taught her how to share because he's so good at it. Before, she wouldn't ever share things with him, but now she goes up to him with toys and snacks and wants to share with him and I love it! :) We love that they're so close and now that Adam and Carlee live close too, we can maybe get Jane in on this cousin action!
Kollyn had a lot of fun at cousin Carli's Princess birthday party. Kollyn didn't nap that day at all because she just wanted to spend time with her cousins and the friends that they had there. She liked sticking the "jewels" on her face just like they did and loved following them around, playing with balloons, and eating the princess snacks. I was worried she's have a meltdown or something because she hadn't napped but she was perfectly happy and content all day. :)
She even got to meet Cinderella but she wasn't super happy about that. Poor girl doesn't know what she was missing. ;) But she enjoyed being a princess herself.
After the birthday party, we went boating with Missy and Burke and their girls, and Laura and her girls. Kollyn really seemed to enjoy it and liked watching the girls on the tubes or the yellow board. I thought she'd be more wiggly and fidgety, but she loved it. We even got into the lake and swam for a bit and she had SO much fun with that too. We definitely want to go a few more times with them this summer if we can make it happen!
David once again got a Batman Themed Father's day. :) And he didn't mind at all. I got him a Batman apron, since he LOVES cooking, and I made Batman shaped cookies that we decorated together. It was a lot of fun and he got to play with Kollyn all day, which is exactly what he wanted. I love that when he gets home, no matter how cranky she's been, she immediately is happy and yells, "A DADA!" and runs to the door when she hears it opening. When other people come over, she gets really excited thinking it's him, and when it isn't, you can tell she's a little sad about it. I think it's so cute that she loves him so much and I hope that she continues to have that great relationship with him.
One of their favorite things to do together is have root beer floats. We took K in for her 18 month appointment at the beginning of June and, while her doctor wasn't really concerned, she is very small for her age. She's slightly less than 20 pounds (9%) and kind of short at 31 inches (29%). He did say we could try to fatten her up but that it probably wouldn't work. David took that as the green light for her to eat a lot of ice cream. :) I love the ice cream mustache that she ends up with after sharing a float with dad. :) I don't think she needs to fatten up, she's really petite and that's fine, but she loves the evening treat with Dad so we're not going to do away with it. :)
Sierra is one of my good friends and she comes over to work at our house since she works from home, and to play with Kollyn. She likes coming to the park with us and Kollyn adores her. She calls her "C" and gets really happy whenever Sierra comes over. Kollyn also loves bubbles, so these are two of her favorite things all in one picture. :)
She really likes the park. We go probably four times a week, if not daily, and she has fun every time. She loves to run around and throw wood chips. She also commandeered this car from a little boy there. She traded her bucket for it. She rode it around, steered and everything, while he played with her bucket and shovel. Then they gave each other their stuff back and went back to playing on their own. She is super social too and loves to follow kids around, try to play with other kids her age, and just really likes being around people.
That's really what our month has consisted of. David's still working at Vivint, looking for other options since he'll be graduating soon, and would like to find a job willing to pay him more. I'm looking at an online degree program through BYU-I and once he's done with school and we have a little money saved up, that's what I'll be doing. I'm nervous about it, but excited too. I want Kollyn to know that no matter what, education is so important and working towards finishing, not matter what comes to block that path, should definitely be a goal. I don't know what program to do, but I have a year before I will have to decide, from the time I start the program since I have to do some basic classes before I can actually get into the degree program I want. :) This will definitely be an exciting time!
